Many people put their oral health at risk by using their teeth for jobs that they were not intended to do. Joint research by the Oral Health Foundation and Philips, as part of National Smile Month, finds that two in three of us frequently use our teeth for tasks other than eating and drinking. Some of the most common misuse for our teeth is biting nails, carry things when our hands are full and tearing sellotape. Other uses include taking tags out of clothing, chewing pens, opening bottles and doing up zips.
